With a 23 metre overhang and an advanced design Aula Medica is one of Stockholm's most innovative buildings in recent years. Karolinska Institutet has long had an extensive active relationship with the wider community and therefore also a great need for its own meeting hall facilities.
To create an interior concept to match that was a challenge. Wingårdhs were assigned by Karolinska Institutet to do Wingårdhs’ Aula Medica rises above the traditional cottage – Stenbrottet (the stone quarry) from 1771 – blending old and new Swedish architecture.
